My urban fantasy series, ETHOS is coming out early this spring 2012. Publisher allowed me to keep subsidiary rights, including the option to have a graphic novel version published. I would do the art myself BUT for several reasons have decided to seek a partner to work with.
1. I simply do not have time to create the art for an entire series while keeping up with the demands of my publisher for sequels to the novel.
2. I don’t feel that my own artistic work is up to par in the graphic novel market. So I am looking for another artist who has a fresh style. My style is okay, but not what I’m looking for LOL And I simply can’t be someone else.
3. Expanding into the graphic novel market is a whole new project with a new set of rules. I want to team up with someone who will work as hard as I do to sell this series.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
Someone DEDICATED to working hard- this WILL get published and go to print. BUT, I can not pay an advance. You will however, get royalties for every copy sold. This could turn out VERY good for you if the book series does well
You will receive full credit for your work and bragging rights to being a part of a growing series. You’ll be expected to read the novels so your art stays true to the story. I will provide character sketches to to work from, but I would want to see them in your own style.
Before you solicit your desire to be part of this series, I will ask that you visit my website to read the book pitch and excerpt to see if this will be a project that appeals to you. (note: the excerpt is an UN-edited version so there may be a few typos, but a free copy of the actual edited books will be provided to you as a work-study.) see more about the book on my website……
Then feel free to LIKE my facebook fan page…….. to stay updated on what I am doing with the novels. If you like my fan page, feel free to invite me to like yours in return so I can stay updated on your art. I believe in networking!! If I have a hard time deciding who to work with, I will leave it up to a vote from my readers.
I will be doing a book tour with this series and once I select an artist to work with for the graphic novel version, I would also love to book up a tour for us to go on together for book signings etc This is my debut series, but already two other novels in the pipeline.
Looking forward to hearing from someone who’s dedicated to a large project. It will pay later, but lots of work up front. Look at it this way, it took me 8 months to write the first book WITHOUT an advance from my publisher. I won’t get paid til I sell books either, so believe me, this is a team effort.
