About Us

The concept for GreatFreelancersOnline.com was started in 2007 by a team of freelancers and outsource business people linked together by their desire to bring about a marketplace for the industry that was honest, fair, and most of all that provided the freedom to do business without the financial penalties and stifling control measures so prevalent in the other freelance marketplaces available today.

This desire was sparked when the financial loss suffered by one of our team members brought about the realization that, even though most of us had not had money actually taken from us by the big freelance marketplaces like our team member, we were all in the same position of losing our hard earned money at the hands of the marketplace services we were using. We were paying monthly membership fees of $10 to $20, depending on the site, but we were also paying out 5% to 10% of the money we earned as freelancers to the marketplaces….which did none of the work!

Our outsourcing partners agreed, they were losing money in the mandatory escrow fees and were increasingly frustrated by the restrictive control measures put into place to prohibit open communication between them and prospective freelancers.

Out of this frustration and down right outrage, we created GreatFreelancersOnline.com. This is a new experience for freelancers and employers alike. This is an opportunity to freely communicate with each other, increase knowledge, do business, and stop paying commissions.
